Pangea: first articles roll out of new sand and flow control facility

Nestled on the side of Deerfoot Trail North is Pangea a new Steelhaus Company dedicated to the supply of wire wrap and punch slot screens used in the removal of sediments in thermal heavy oil production.  The facility will also produce advanced flow control solutions which assist in improving production of oil across long horizontal wells by creating strategically placed pressure drops.  Steelhaus broke ground on Pangea, a 40,000 sqft facility early last year.  The facility expands Steelhaus into a new completions equipment market that serves Canada’s largest Producers including Cenovus.

Upon inception, Pangea began to receive new machinery in sea-cans from Asian suppliers, these machines were of a type we had never operated and we were forced to learn new processes we had never contemplated.  The Pangea plant now boasts a world-class material handling workflow that had to practically be built from the ground up. Adding to the challenge 40+ individuals needed to be hired and trained in a matter of weeks however by June and in just 7 months first articles began rolling from the plant.  This is a staggering accomplishment and I want to congratulate the crew at Pangea for the results.
